VALIS, Part 2

We follow Horselover Fat/Phil as he finds out that he is one person rather than two separate people. Phil created Horselover Fat in an attempt to deal with the loss of his loved ones. And "Horselover Fat" actually means Philip Dick! How cool is that? He was able to incorporate his own name into the story using the Greek translations.

PKD presents how complex the mind really is in this novel. He does so in A Scanner Darkly as well but in this story we follow the narrator who we realize has schizophrenia. PKD did say that A Scanner Darkly was based on his actual experiences. It would be interesting to know if this novel is based on his experiences too. It was very complex at times but it was intriguing at the same time.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading the works of PKD. Some of the stories might have been a bit different, but to be able to experience a different genre than I'm used to was awesome! I feel as though I need to start digging into some more science fiction. So if anyone has any suggestions for what to move onto next, please let me know!

I enjoyed getting to discuss with you all about the novels and wish you the best in your future endeavors! Live long and prosper! :)
